About Ma Foundation
Ma foundation is a Mumbai-based organisation established in 2019 that reaches out to and supports the most impoverished and suffering women, along with their little ones, in remote parts of India—virtually at the bottom of the economic pyramid.
The organisation focuses primarily on education, nutrition, skilling and livelihood.
Our trustees include Renowned Singer Usha Uthup, Veteran Cricketer Arun Lal, Former Finance Director of Tata Sons Ishaat Hussain, and Manufacturing Manager, SLB, Lavanya Raghavendran
The Foundation is registered under 12AA and 80G of the Income-Tax Act.
Our programs include a Maiden Initiative – Feed the Hungry Mothers and Their Children. Our flagship initiative is Ma Ki Roti, along with other key programs Ma Ka Aahar, and Andhere Mein Ujala.

Vision
Motherhood serves as the bedrock of humanity and culture. Ma Foundation endeavours to honour the sacred platform upon which motherhood stands. In India, countless mothers confront economic, health, and social challenges in fulfilling their roles.
Some find themselves in the heartbreaking position of being unable to afford their child’s education, while others struggle due to health issues they cannot afford to address. Many are faced with the harsh reality of not being able to provide even basic necessities for their children. The vision of Ma Foundation is to stand alongside these women, providing support to help them overcome these obstacles.
Mission
Our mission is to empower and uplift economically disadvantaged women by providing them with the necessary resources, opportunities, and support to improve their lives. Through targeted initiatives and community-based programs, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and create pathways to self-sufficiency and success. By addressing the unique challenges faced by impoverished women, we strive to foster resilience, dignity, and empowerment within their lives and communities. Together, we work towards building a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to a brighter, more equitable world. Ma Foundation seeks to alleviate these hurdles through a 3-step process:
Make available an outreach system & a directory of mothers who desperately need assistance.
Implement an evaluation of the need through a network of social workers.
Make available assistance so that the mother can fulfil her role to a higher level than what she would do on her own.
Founding Story
Ma Foundation, was born out of deep empathy and admiration. Inspired by the resilience of women I encountered while supporting cancer patients at Tata Memorial Hospital, founded the trust “Ma” (Mothers) as a tribute to these courageous women. The foundation is dedicated to uplifting mothers in need, honoring their strength and perseverance in the face of adversity.
There is an ancient Tamil saying which my grandmother quoted at every juncture “Avan anri ore anavum ashayaadhu” Not a blade of grass moves without Divine will.
Over the years of fund raising, I have kept my head down and hands folded and I do believe the Supreme power above clears the path of obstacles when one sets out to do good and also powerfully steers you towards your goal.
I have experienced this in my target to raise funds for Sadhana school for special children in Mumbai. Then the expansion of Tata Medical center for cancer patients in Kolkata.
And now my own Ma Foundation to help the most impoverished mothers stand up on their own feet and lead a life of dignity and fulfillment.
